For 16 years Word-Play offered three literacy-based reading and writing programs for children from public elementary schools in Toronto’s Queen West community. This year we did not run our programs (Reading in the City Writing in the City Book Club in the City) because our board has been working to wind down and distribute our remaining funds to organizations with similar aspirations working in marginalized communities. We spent the year investigating discussing and deciding on the appropriate recipients and have now spent down our reserves. We look forward to watching these excellent orga…
