The purpose of the foundation is to raise funds which are then disbursed to health sciences north (hsn) and health sciences north research institute (hsnri). Amounts received from the foundation are used to fund capital research equipment and research-related expenditures incurred by hsn/hsnri. The foundation also funds a number a patient support programs to benefit patients receiving cancer-related treatment at health sciences north.
