The purpose of the society is to stimulate interest amoung the general public in the culture history and archaeology of ancient mesopotamia in particular the civilization of sumer babylon and assyria as well as neighbouring ancient civilizations. The society is a chartered non-profit organization with no political or ideological affiliations or functions.
