Pet visitation therapy programs (PVTP) where volunteers take their pre-screened pets into various facilities including hospitals long and short term care facilities nursing homes correctional facilities schools and universities women's shelters residential treatment programs homeless shelters and provide interaction with individuals whose response to other forms of therapy has been non-existant or to whom pet-therapy would provide an alternative to other more common forms of therapy.
