In its own words
Nelson search and rescue society keeps a body of trained and police screened voluneers on call for search and rescue or other emergency support work. The society is involved in searches and recoveries at the request of the RCMP Nelson City Police BC Ambulance and emergency co-ordination center in Victoria. This includes searching for missing people medical and emergency evalutation and body recovery. The society continues to update the training of its' volunteers to keep their skills current.
