Marathi Society of B.C. is a charitable organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia, classified by the CRA under teaching institutions. It appears on the charity register the way hospitals, universities, and other publicly funded bodies do — to issue tax receipts — rather than as a donation-driven charity in the usual sense. In its fiscal year ending May 30, 2021, it reported $2,264 in revenue and $4,014 in expenditures. Spending exceeded revenue that year — the gap came out of reserves.

It reported gifts to 2 qualified donees totalling $2,000 in 2021, the largest being $1,000 to Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion. Its filed list of directors and trustees shows 7 names.

In its own words

We conduct about 5 events in a year to raise community awareness cultural programs and also run a language school once very week (on friday) to teach our marathi to anyone who is interested in learning. We also do fund-raising from time to time for assisting and donating to multiple charities.
