The lake of the woods search and rescue (lowsar) is a team of dedicated volunteers who provide search and rescue services to the region. These services include but are not limited to ice/water rescue ground rescue elc detection aircraft searching and rope rescue. Lowsar is activated by ambulance communication centre in kenora via a paper system. Lowsar works closely with the ontario provincial police northwest ems city of kenora fire and emergency services and other allied emergency services.
