The fafm operates the honours and awards program which confers awards of excellence and lifetime achievement awards in addition to providing scholarships for medical students and family medicine residents and grants supporting research and educational initiatives. With the support of philanthropic sources the fafm also funds various research initiatives and fellowships advancing family medicine across canada and in medium and low income countries around the world.
