The core mandate of conservation authorities is to undertake watershed-based programs (mandatory and non-mandatory) to protect people and property from flooding and other natural hazards and to conserve natural resources orr economic social and environmental benefits. Conservation authorities have mandated responsibilities under the conservation authorities act & the clean water act related to managing risks of natuural hazards (flooding/erosion) drinking water source protection an conservation of lands.
