The cowichan valley arts council operates two community art galleries and a workshop space for youth and adults featuring about 30 exhibits annually at the cowichan community centre in duncan administered by one full-time and three part-time staff members. The cowichan valley arts council hosts the largest non-juried art show (held in may) on vancouver island. The non-profit group was founded in 1971.
