Charlie's Freewheels Youth Education Society is a charitable organization based in Toronto, Ontario, classified by the CRA under teaching institutions. It appears on the charity register the way hospitals, universities, and other publicly funded bodies do — to issue tax receipts — rather than as a donation-driven charity in the usual sense. In its fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, it reported $90K in revenue and $153K in expenditures. Spending exceeded revenue that year — the gap came out of reserves.
Its funding that year was roughly 88% from donations, 8% from government. In 2024, 7 other registered charities reported granting it a combined $101K.
Compared with 673 education institutions of similar size, its share of spending on mission — charitable programs plus grants to other charities — ranked above 56% of peers. Its highest-paid positions fell in the $40,000–79,999 range (2 positions in that band). The charity reported 2 permanent full-time positions.
Revenue has declined over its filings on record here, from $253K in 2020 to $90K in 2024. Its filed list of directors and trustees shows 6 names.
