Algehr holds workshops (in-person) and webinars to promote and teach handbell ringing and conducting techniques for both youth and adults. There is an annual award for excellence in teaching handbells an annual competition to encourage new handbell composers and the guild provides grants for handbell groups to purchase equipment and music. Algehr now owns a large and unique collection of used handbells. This collection (the alberta guild collection) is available for rent to interested handbell groups across alberta as part of its outreach program
